I moved to Bangalore in 2003 as a young architecture graduate, and learning to cook out of necessity soon grew into a meaningful personal practice. Food became tied to friendships, community, and memory, recipes shared in friends’ kitchens, conversations with their mothers, potlucks, and moments that shaped my sense of belonging in the city. I began documenting these recipes in a handmade journal with names, dates, and places; it became an archive of memory as much as of food.
Now living in Kochi, revisiting that journal made each recipe feel like a snapshot from the past. That experience sparked the idea of creating a hand‑illustrated collection that brings together my love for food, art, and storytelling. This project reflects the friendships and experiences that shaped me and offers my daughter a way to know the people behind those memories.
